Holiday FAQ’s

Q: Why hire a VW T5 Campervan?

A:Simple, it’s a go anywhere campervan with everything you need. Campsite restrictions, car park restrictions for traveling, narrow lanes, beach front locations, its no different to most large family cars to drive and handle.

Q. What is the VW T5 Camper van like to drive?

A:Your camper van is extremely comfortable and will operate exactly the same as any modern family car with many of the refinements found in more expensive models. With responsive engines and car-like agility you can park them in a standard car parking space, assisted by rear parking sensors. They are less than five meters long and under 2 metres high so you can also access most parking areas including some underground and multi story car parks. Also fitted with three point seat belts, air bags and seating systems that comply with UK and European safety standards. Given the elevated driving position the visibility is very good and combined with an efficient engine, power steering, ABS and traction control they are highly manoeuvrable and one of the safest campervans manufactured.

Q: Can I come and see a campervan before I book?

A:Of course, a picture paints a thousand words but you just can’t beat seeing one with your own eyes. You will be amazed at just how much you can fit in! Take a look around, open the doors, pop the roof open and have a play. We much prefer it if you come and see us, we are more than happy to talk ‘campers’ and adventure experiences with you!

Q: How old do I need to be to hire a campervan from I Do Campers?

A:All drivers must be aged between 21 and 75 and must have held a UK or EU drivers licence for at least 2 years with less than 6 points. Drivers with driving licences other than UK/EU, please call us to check eligibility. Any accidents (fault / no fault) from the past 5 years must be declared at the time of booking. Subject to our Terms and Conditions. Checks are required with DVLA.

Q: Do we need to leave a security deposit?

A: A security deposit is required before your camper hire and will be held over the duration of the hire period. This deposit will be refunded in full within 5 working days of the vehicle being returned on time, undamaged, with a clean interior, a full tank of fuel and with all equipment in place and intact. If there is any damage to the van including loss of any equipment, tyre damage, low fuel etc. we reserve the right to use the security deposit as funding towards amending this. The remainder of this security deposit will be returned to the hirer once the damage/loss has been paid for. (The security deposit amount will vary dependent on the hirers age (subject to Terms and Conditions). Aged between 21-22 £1000 / 23-24 £750 / 25-75 £500).

Q: Does the camper van come with fuel?

A:We will supply your camper van with a full tank of fuel at the start of the hire. Customers must return the vehicle full at the end of the rental. If you return the vehicle part full you will be charged for missing fuel at the end of the rental at the locally determined price along with a collection of fuel fee of £15.

Q: Do you have rear seatbelts and can child seats be fitted?

A:This is a very good question as not all camper vans, especially private conversion camper vans have adequate safety belts or comply to crash testing standards. We have installed the Certified RIB Altair rear seating which has been successfully tested and certified in crash tests and come installed with 3 point seatbelts. You can fit child seats of all ages onto the RIB Altair.

Can we have more than one designated driver?

A:Yes but there may be a small charge, Prices usually start at £5 per day if you are staying in the UK or £10 per day if you are planning to travel in Europe. (The prices quoted are for drivers between the ages of 25 and 70 with clean, UK driving licences. Drivers outside these conditions will be considered but there may be an extra charge. Please call to discuss.)

Q: Is there a mileage limit?

A:Your campervan comes with unlimited mileage for UK and EU travel.

Q: Can we go abroad?

A:Yes, but by special appointment only and to EU countries only.
